AOL's 'Park Bench With Steve Buscemi' picks up Emmy

LOS ANGELES -- AOL's Park Bench With Steve Buscemiwon an Emmy for Best Short-form Variety Series on Sunday, beating titles from fellow digital players Funny Or Die, Maker Studios and Defy Media's ScreenJunkies.

AOL, which Verizon acquired for $4.4 billion, has bolstered its efforts in creating video content for each of its individual brands geared towards various audiences. Most recently, it launched a new face-tracking app called Switch at VidCon.

Park Bench had been previously nominated for an Emmy in 2014, alongside another AOL original called Future Starts Here.

Created by and starring Buscemi, Park Benchfollows the actor as he hangs out with various famous friends in New York to discuss people, places and the spirit that embodies the city.

Season two, which launched in June 2015, featured a handful of guests including musician Elvis Costello, comedian John Oliver, actress Amber Tamblyn, actress Zosia Mamet, actor Paul Sparks, comedian Robert Smigel as Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and comedian Gilbert Gottfried.

Olive Productions' Wren Arthur and Steve Buscemi serve as executive producers, alongside Justin Wilkes, Joe Killian and Jon Doran from RadicalMedia.

This was Buscemi’s eighth Primetime Emmy nomination and his first win.

The show also beat fellow AOL original Making A Scene With James Franco.
